Figure out what else has been written, figure out the basics of the topic, the obvious parts. This will help give you a handle on the topic, and build on your “angle” or fresh idea. Here are a few things I have done since reading this book to get a better idea of what I am writing about.

• Interviewed some “experts” on swimwear designs

• Looked up top challenges for shift workers on Reddit

• Read YouTube comments on videos about running leggings

• Watched YouTube videos on double speed about romance novelists

• Looked up competitor content on teaching copywriting

By the end of the research, the aim is to understand the topic well enough to explain it simply.
